Overview
The Philadelphia Council AFL-CIO is looking to build out a new website to address the below-mentioned list of features that the current website does not address.
- Ability to hide or remove pages as needed.
- Distinct tab feature with the ability to add or remove tabs.
- Photo album/carousel feature.
- Public action calendar with better formatting than a standard public Google calendar.
- Password portal where we can upload and share sensitive information.
- Admin should have the ability to make profiles/logins for specific users to access sensitive information.
- RSS feed linked with AFL-CIO RSS feed.
- Subscribe/Connect with link connected with Action Network.
- The ability for the current website admin to add other/remove admins and control admin access levels.
- Website edit tracking would be a plus.
Solution
After reviewing the requirements for a new website outlined in the RFP, the word "flexibility" comes to mind. We have worked with the "UnionHall" CMS and have realized some of the limitations. Your need for standard administrative capabilities is clear and will be provided to the extent you have outlined. This includes but is not limited to:
- Administrative tasks - Admins will have the ability to administer all content, user entities, and menu systems. If more is needed just let us know!
- Content creation - We propose a “component" based CMS that will allow lots of flexibility without constraining you based on strict page layouts. This allows for fluidity and a bit of creativity when building landing pages and calls to action.
- Revisions - For each entity created you will be able to track editor revisions and roll back content to an earlier date if need be.
- Password protected portal - Based on role, users you specify and grant permission to will be able to log in and access sensitive content. Administrators can revoke permissions at any given time by changing the role of a specific user.
- The entire website will be built with accessibility in mind and will comply with ADA law and conform with WCAG 2.1 & 2.2 guidelines.
* All requirements will be met as these features are built into most projects we take on.
Process
- Discovery - Zoom meeting to discuss current and new site more in-depth.
- Design Phase - After the initial meeting we can begin designing based on our conversation. Once the design is accepted we can begin development of your new website.
- Content architecture, development, and content migration:
- Content architecture & Development - Building out each content type to best suit your needs, creating user roles and permissions, developing reusable components, and handcoding the accepted design to work with your new backend.
- Content Migration - Once all fixtures of the new website are in place we can start moving over the content you would like to keep from your old website. This step can extend the timeframe due to certain migration complexities. This can be discussed further after the acceptance of the proposal.
- Training - Getting to know your new website
- Launch of your shiny new site!
We estimate 4 months from acceptance of the proposal. This is a rough estimate based on the information provided.
Estimate of Cost
- One-time fee: $9500/Broken into two payments
- Post-launch monthly retainer (Optional): $600/mo with minimum 1/yr contract.
Includes hosting, security, security updates, SSL certificate, new features, and website modifications at no additional cost.
